"The Kitchen Religion"
In Bhakti yoga, an important part of devotional service is the preparation and offering of foodstuffs to Krsna. This is done for Krsna either in deity form or picture form. Once offered, this sacred food is called "prasadam", or mercy. It can then be served and honoured (like eating, but with love and respect as part of one's spiritual practice). Cooking delicious pure vegetarian dishes is an integral part of showing our love for Krsna - no wonder we are sometimes called "The Kitchen Religion"!
